Arman Badrudeen
Founder & Head Coach
Arman Badrudeen is the founder of Martial Arts Nation Oviedo and a lifelong martial artist, coach, and educator dedicated to building one of the most beginner-friendly and structured training environments in Central Florida.
With a background that spans martial arts, strength and conditioning, and academic research, Arman specializes in designing systems that make training both highly effective and accessible—whether someone is stepping onto the mats for the first time or pursuing high-level performance.
Born and raised in Queens, New York, Arman began his athletic journey through baseball and karate before moving to Miramar, Florida in 2010. He attended Everglades High School, where he was introduced to wrestling and competed between 2013 and 2014 until injuries temporarily halted his progress.
In 2014, Arman enrolled at the University of Central Florida (UCF), where he continued wrestling through the club program while also assisting in coaching his former high school team. In 2016, he transitioned into Judo and Mixed Martial Arts, training under Sensei Shinjiro Sasaki and becoming a teaching assistant. At the same time, he began coaching within the UCF MMA Club, eventually becoming President in 2017 and leading the program’s development.
Recognizing the need for high-level mentorship, Arman sought out guidance beyond the club setting and, in 2018, connected with Ricardo Libório. Under Libório’s mentorship, Arman shifted his focus from pursuing a professional fighting career to dedicating himself to coaching, leadership, and helping others.
With Libório’s involvement, the UCF program experienced rapid growth—expanding to over 100 active members and later transitioning into a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu-focused program to create a safer and more welcoming training environment. This shift led to explosive participation, with over 1,000 students training throughout a single semester.
In 2019, Libório became an adjunct professor at UCF, turning the program into a college-credit course. Arman served as Head Teaching Assistant and later assumed leadership of the program, remaining President through December 2022 and continuing instruction of the course beginning in 2023.
Ricardo Libório
Founder of Martial Arts Nation
Ricardo Libório is a world-renowned 7th Degree Red and Black Belt (Coral Belt), representing the highest echelons of technical mastery and dedication to the “Gentle Art.” His journey began in Rio de Janeiro under the direct tutelage of the iconic Carlson Gracie, one of the most influential figures in martial arts history. As one of Carlson’s most gifted students, Libório became a cornerstone of the legendary Carlson Gracie Academy, known worldwide for its aggressive, pressure-based style and unbreakable warrior spirit.
In 1996, Libório made history by winning the first-ever IBJJF World Championships, cementing his status as one of the most technical grapplers to ever step on the mats. Beyond his personal accolades, his greatest legacy lies in his role as a visionary coach. He co-founded the American Top Team (ATT), which grew into one of the most successful and decorated MMA academies in the world, producing dozens of UFC champions and world-class athletes under his technical guidance.
Today, Master Libório is globally recognized not only as a competitor but as a “Professor of Professors.” His technical brilliance and philosophical approach to Jiu-Jitsu have influenced thousands of practitioners across the globe. By bringing this elite lineage to Oviedo, Florida, our academy offers students a rare and direct connection to the roots of the sport.
